Discover our selection of crémants from France

France's crémant diversity extends far beyond the well-known names. Regions such as Bordeaux, Limoux, Burgundy, and Jura produce sparkling wines that are stylistically very different but consistently exciting. It's high time to go on a journey of discovery.

Crémant de Bordeaux – Powerful & expressive

In the home of great red wines, Crémant also shows its characterful side. Crémants from Bordeaux combine structure and freshness with aromatic depth. This makes them ideal as an accompaniment to food or for those who like something a little more powerful.

Crémant de Limoux – The original region of sparkling wine

Sparkling wine was already being produced in Limoux in the 16th century, long before Champagne. Today, Crémants from this region in southern France impress with their elegance , lively fruit, and Mediterranean lightness. A real insider tip with a long history.

Crémant de Bourgogne – Fine, elegant, and versatile

The Burgundy wine region is known for famous grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  This is where particularly elegant cuvées with fine perlage, balanced acidity, and wonderfully clear aromas are produced. For all those who appreciate subtle sparkling wines.

Crémant du Jura – Character with alpine freshness

Crémants with a special character come from the small, traditional Jura region near the Alps. Mineral, lively and often a little "edgy" in the best sense of the word. For those who like it unadorned and honest.

Organic Crémant and vintage rarities – deliberately special

Crémant can be elegant and sustainable: more and more winemakers are turning to organic farming, manual labor, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The result is sparkling wines with a clear style, natural expression, and genuine character of origin. Those who like it even more exclusive will also discover limited vintage cuvées with aging potential and character.

What exactly is Crémant?

Crémant is the French sparkling wine recommendation for anyone who appreciates craftsmanship, provenance, and enjoyment. It is produced using traditional methods, with a second fermentation in the bottle and a long maturation period. And you can taste it: finely sparkling, elegant, and often surprisingly versatile.

Origin, regions, and grape varieties

Crémant is so versatile because it is produced in different French regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux, Limoux, and Jura. Each region brings its own style, ranging from mineral to creamy to powerful. Variety also sets the tone when it comes to grape varieties—depending on the region, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, or Mauzac are used, for example.

How is Crémant made?

As with champagne, the second fermentation of crémant takes place directly in the bottle. This makes it higher quality than many other sparkling wines and ensures a fine perlage and a harmonious mouthfeel. After shaking and disgorging (removing the yeast from the neck of the bottle), the wine matures on the yeast for several months before going on sale.

Difference between crémant and champagne

Champagne and crémant are produced in a similar way, but champagne may only be produced in the Champagne region, while crémant comes from other French regions. There is also a difference in price: crémant often offers impressive quality at attractive prices.

Frequently asked questions about Crémant

Crémant and champagne are both produced using the traditional bottle fermentation method. The main difference lies in the region: champagne comes exclusively from the Champagne region, while crémant comes from other parts of France, such as Burgundy or Jura. Crémant is also often characterized by its attractive price.
That depends entirely on your taste: Crémant de Bourgogne stands for elegance, Limoux for fruit and freshness, Bordeaux for structure, and Jura for minerality. Those who appreciate variety will find something special in every region.
Yes, and more and more winemakers are working organically or even biodynamically. In our shop, you will find a fine selection of certified organic Crémants with a clear style and responsible origins.
Unopened, Crémant can be stored for 1–3 years without any problems, depending on the style and how it was made. Vintage or cellar-worthy cuvées can also mature longer – best stored in a cool, dark place and lying down.
Almost! Crémant is extremely versatile. It goes well with fish, white meat, vegetarian dishes, mild cheese, or as an aperitif. With a little maturity or dosage, it even harmonizes with spicy dishes.
Crémant is a French sparkling wine produced outside the Champagne region. It is made using the same method as champagne, but is usually more affordable and just as enjoyable.
Crémant is produced like champagne, Franciacorta, and cava using the traditional bottle fermentation method ("méthode traditionnelle"), in which the second fermentation takes place directly in the bottle. This ensures fine bubbles, complex aromas, and a particularly harmonious mouthfeel.
Crémant is produced in eight French regions, including Burgundy, Bordeaux, Limoux, and Jura, but also in Alsace, the Loire Valley, Savoy, and Die. Each region has its own unique character.
The grape varieties vary depending on the region: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Mauzac are commonly used. Each variety brings its own aromas and structure to the wine.
These terms indicate the residual sugar content:
  • Brut is dry (up to 12 g/l),
  • Extra Brut is even drier (up to 6 g/l),
  • Brut Nature / Zero Dosage means no added sugar,
  • Doux is sweet.
You will find all varieties in our shop – clearly labeled.
Depending on its origin and production, Crémant can taste fruity, mineral, creamy, or lively. What they all have in common is a fine perlage, elegant freshness, and a surprisingly distinctive character.
No – most Crémants are Brut or Extra Brut, but there are also semi-dry or sweet varieties. The dosage (sugar content) is indicated on the label or in our product description.
Crémant usually contains between 11.5 and 12.5% alcohol by volume, depending on the region, grape variety, and vinification. The alcohol content is indicated on each bottle.
Crémant is best stored lying down, in a cool (10–12 °C), dark, and quiet place. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to maintain optimal quality.
If well sealed and stored in the refrigerator, Crémant will remain fresh for about 1–2 days. After that, it will lose its carbonation and aroma noticeably.
Crémant is a real all-rounder: whether fish, seafood, poultry, salads, quiche or cheese – with the right cuvée, it goes with almost everything. It also cuts a fine figure as an aperitif or with desserts that are not too sweet.
Yes – we offer elegant gift packaging and can include a personal card on request. Shipping is secure and reliable.
No. Real Crémant always contains alcohol. Non-alcoholic sparkling wines are not allowed to bear the protected designation "Crémant."
Crémant is always traditionally fermented in the bottle and is subject to strict French rules of origin. Sekt can be produced in different ways and therefore often has a broader quality spectrum.
Many Crémants are vegan – but not all. We label vegan wines accordingly in our shop or are happy to advise you on request.
